The University of Texas At El Paso To Host Women Vets ROCK! Day On-Campus
This year, Women Veterans ROCK! is celebrating five years of working with Women Veterans, Military Spouses and Girls in Military Families with the launch of its new signature program, “Women Veterans ROCK! Day On-Campus.”
The Women Veterans ROCK! Day On-Campus event for the University of Texas At El Paso will celebrate student veterans by Kicking Off Military Appreciation Week on Monday, May 4, 2015 between 11:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. at Union Plaza (500 W University Ave, El Paso, TX 79968).
“I’m excited about working with our college institutions to enhance the collegiate experience for our student veterans, said Women Veterans ROCK! Southwest Region Director Jaynene Smith. “I look forward to working with the many resources available in our respective communities to assist those who’ve served in my role as the Women Veterans ROCK! Southwest Regional Director.”
Highlights include:
- Presentation of Colors by UTEP ROTC
- Remarks by UTEP military veteran and student veteran
- Performance by Fort Bliss 1st Armored Division Band

The WVR Southwest Region is the newest member of the Women Veterans ROCK! National Affiliate Network, officially launching on November 11, 2014.
The new Southwest Region Director, retired U.S. Army Veteran Jaynene K. Smith is involved with the Department of Defense and Women Veterans ROCK! The Southwest Region is currently headquartered in El Paso, TX and will expand to Houston, TX and surrounding areas to connect women and military families to the myriad of resources and opportunities available within the region. Smith is also a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, a national community partner of Women Veterans ROCK!
