Workforce & Leadership Development Retreat for Women Veterans
Philadelphia, PA (June 18, 2015) – Women Veterans ROCK will host the PA-DE-NJ Tri-State Region’s largest Workforce and Leadership Development Retreat for America’s Women Veterans and all Women in Military Families. The Women Veterans Summer Leadership Retreat will be held at Chestnut Hill College located at 9601 Germantown Avenue, Philadelphia, PA on June 27 and June 28 , 2015 from 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM.
Featuring the theme, “Moving Military Women From Boot Camp to Board Chairs,” The Women Veterans Summer Leadership Retreat features many of the region’s most dynamic Women In Public Leadership who bring their expertise to the table to educate, empower and engage transitioning Women Veterans as they seek post-military Civic, Community and Business Leadership Opportunities. This unique group of participating Women Veterans represents an emerging segment of Military Women who choose to improve their leadership options and opportunities in the areas of: Advocacy; Nonprofit Board Leadership; Community Councils; Government Commissions; and Nonprofit Organizational Management.
The 2015 inaugural launch of the Women Veterans Civic Leadership Institute Fellowship Program engages 100 Women Veterans and other Military Women in its June 27 and June 28 two-day Women Veterans Summer Leadership Retreat at Chestnut Hill College followed by its Fall in-class Civic Leadership Education Series beginning September thru December on the campus of Chestnut Hill College.
“Today’s military women are the best advocates and allies to serve as Catalysts for Positive Change in the delivery of services to America’s Women Veterans and Military Families,” said Deborah Harmon-Pugh, National Campaign Chair of Women Veterans ROCK! and Chair of The Women Veterans Civic Leadership Institute.
“The ultimate goal of The Women Veterans Summer Leadership Retreat is to highlight the many contributions military women make to our society at-large through their Civic Engagement, Community and Business Leadership endeavors,” said Harmon-Pugh. “The Women Veterans ROCK Advocacy Campaign continues to demonstrate how military women are using their unique experiences and their unique perspectives in building coalitions to affect positive change in every single institution throughout our society.”
The 2015 Women Veterans Summer Leadership Retreat features keynote addresses from Jennifer Merschdorf, CEO of the Young Survival Coalition, and Ventris C. Gibson, Deputy Chief Human Capital Officer of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and U.S. Navy Veteran.
