This year’s Public Policy Day was a huge success because of the participation, support and testimonies delivered by Members of The Women Veterans ROCK! 2020 National Delegation of 100+ Military Women and Advocates for Military Women. We thank each and every one of you for taking the time out of your busy schedules to raise awareness about the issues that are most important to Women Veterans and Military Families.
Women Veterans ROCK! 2017 Public Policy agenda focuses on: Public Health & Wellness Policies Supporting Today’s Military Women; Transitioning From Military Service to Civilian Life; Strengthening America’s Military Women & Military Families.
The 2017 Public Policy Day After Action Report
Public Policy Day gives The Women Veterans ROCK! 2020 Delegation a chance to visit with congressional members, senate leaders and hill staffers to learn about: Congress; the public policy making process; and share their experiences and challenges with legislative leaders. Each year, we hope to bring attention to important issues affecting Women Veterans and Military Families.
Our objectives for Public Policy Day 2017 included:
- Creating an opportunity for the national Women Veterans 2020 Delegation to share their stories and raise awareness of the issues most important to military women, women veterans and military families with legislators and congressional staff.
- Creating an opportunity for the national Women Veterans 2020 Delegation and Speakers of Veteran Service Organizations to engage in conversations and offer recommendations on important topical issues.
- Creating an opportunity for the national Women Veterans 2020 Delegation to meet and connect with each other in our Nation’s Capital.
- 100+ Women Veteran Delegates Attended Public Policy Day 2017
- Women Veteran Delegates Traveled To Washington from 12 States
- Women Veteran Delegates Participated from all of Women Veterans ROCK! 5 Coastal Regions
- Women Veteran Delegates visited 8 Senate Offices
- Women Veteran Delegates secured 2 Senate Local Office Visits (After March 2nd Hill Day)
- Women Veteran Delegates secured 2 Invitations to Join Local Councils (After March 2nd Hill Day)
- Women Veterans Delegated secured 1 New Delegation Partnership with National Women Veterans United, (Chicago, Illinois)

The Women Veterans ROCK! 2020 Delegation successfully achieved and surpassed its 2017 goals and objectives. The Delegation will continue to create opportunities for Women Veteran Delegates to become engaged and empowered as positive catalysts for social change via the process of Public Policy and Public Leadership.
