Behind Every GREAT Event … Is a GREAT Supporting Cast
The “Women Veterans ROCK!” Rally & Veterans Day Celebration held on 11-11-11 was a GREAT Event. Thanks to the collaborative support of participating organizations we were able to host and provided community-based supportive services to nearly 300 Women Veterans at The ARC Performing Arts Theater in Washington DC.
We had the privilege of serving with: some of the most amazing women you will ever meet; veteran agencies who actually work on Veterans Day; dedicated service providers and community-based organizations who give, give and then give some more. The 2011 “Women Veterans ROCK!” Rally & Veterans Day Celebration was a GREAT event that was supported by a GREAT supporting cast of government agencies and community organizations.
The District of Columbia’s Executive Office of The Mayor, Office of Veteran Affairs has been and continues to be one of our biggest supporters and we sincerely appreciate their dedication to serving the veteran community through collaborative partnerships. Thank You Mr. Mayor for your support and participation.
Our friends at the D.C. Department of Veterans Employment Services made a bold commitment to connecting veterans to job opportunities through creative and unique networks like The “Women Veterans ROCK!” Rally and they are successfully connecting veterans to a broad spectrum of employment opportunities.
We are proud to report that the DC Housing Authority joined our advocacy campaign efforts this year and the DC Housing Authority’s Landlords Program became one of the “central resources” of our Veterans Day Resources Fair.
And of course, we always appreciate the ongoing strategic alliance with our friends and colleagues at the Veterans Administration and the Department of Veterans Affairs. Thank you for your commitment.
We know that it truly takes a WHOLE village to keep Women Veterans winning. WHUR 96.3 FM Radio demonstrated their unwavering support of the veteran community in their support of The “Women Veterans ROCK!” Rally. And, U.S. Air Force Veteran, Lorna Newton, Radio Show Host of DC Inspirations at WHUR was an amazing Mistress of Ceremony. We LOVE YOU Lorna!
The Rally was joined by 20 agencies and community-based supportive service organizations. This year we added a new component called “Health, Wellness & Family Nutrition” to our Veterans Day Resources Fair. With the support of the University of the District of Columbia’s Center for Nutrition, Diet & Health and the DC Central Kitchen, we successfully added a pleasing new flavor to The Rally. Thanks to Final Salute, Inc., for their generous donation of “Bed, Bath & Beyond” giveaways and to all of our participating organizations who pledged their time and support to Women Veterans and Military Families at this unique and successful gathering of Women Veterans.
Once again, we congratulate our 2011 Award Honorees. You are important and positive role models in the Women Veterans Community. We “Salute You” as you continue your service as “Proud Veteran Ambassadors.”
As we bring the 2011 Rally Summary Report to a close, we extend our sincere gratitude to The Master’s Child Music Ministry of The Master’s Child Church; and, to the young, gifted and inspirational dancers of the Dance Dimensions dance company – THANK YOU for sharing your GOD given gifts with all of us.
